All-terrain cranes for heavy lifting and exceptional transport, also for rental: Marraffa cases
High-performance cranes are needed to install gantry cranes or prefabricated structures

Marraffa's 100-tonne crane for the installation of three overhead cranes
It is called the "Balcony of the Ionian Sea", while its name, "Rotunda Marinis" derives precisely from its rounded shape, facing the sea: here, in the municipality of Rotondella in the province of Matera in Basilicata, Marraffa managed the installation of three overhead cranes with a 100-tonne all-terrain crane.
At the ITREC plant in Rotondella, Sogin has provided for the installation of three gantry cranes as part of the DMC3/DTC3 temporary storage facility, which will be attached to the Finished Product Cementation Facility (ICPF).
The gantry crane was positioned using a 100 tons Marraffa crane in the storage area that will temporarily house the two casks.
These are high strength shielding containers where the fuel elements from the US Elk River reactor will be placed, and which are awaiting their transfer to the National Repository.
The gantry crane installed by the Marraffa crane will be used to move the casks inside the deposit. Two other gantry cranes will be positioned to serve the storage area where the approximately 170 items resulting from cementing in the ICPF will be stored.
Exceptional lifting with cranes: how does it work?
Marraffa cranes are suitable for the installation of any type of gantry crane inside industrial sheds, thanks to a wide range of lifting equipment with a maximum capacity of up to 650 tons. Marraffa also has cranes that can be used for lifting prefabricated structures such as:
- Bridge lifting
- Lifting of viaducts
- Lifting of slabs
- Lifting of pillars
In Locorotondo (BA), Marraffa cranes were used to install various prefabricated structures as part of the renovation of the historic building that housed the Cantina Sociale, where the famous "Locorotondo DOC wine" was once produced, a high-quality white wine made from a blend of Verdeca and Bianco di Alessano grapes.
The Cantina Sociale di Locorotondo building will be transformed into a modern shopping centre, the first to be built in Valle d'Itria, in an area known throughout the world for its characteristic trulli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Marraffa cranes were used to assemble the new prefabricated structures that will house part of the new shopping mall, in a context characterized by various technical difficulties. The inaccessible location made it necessary to use cranes with a long reach.
For the internal handling of the prefabricated structures, two electric cranes of 25 tons and 40 tons were used, which guarantee high lifting performance in terms of weight and size, but above all are perfect for handling operations in confined environments, with the guarantee of maximum safety and reliability.
