Exceptional transport and assembly of a press in Czech Republic
The press was positioned with Hydraulic Gantry Cranes
A journey over 800 km long on Central Europe roads: Marraffa has successfully completed the exceptional transport of an industrial press of over 380 tons (divided into various pieces) from Italy to the Czech Republic, as well as its assembly at the destination.
The activity lasted three weeks. In the first, the various components of the press reached the agreed destination traveling on different convoys (for a total of 16 trips) departing from Brescia and arriving to Czech Republic, passing through Austria. The largest convoy was about 31 m long, about 4 m wide and about 4.6 m high, with a 152 ton load.
The definition of the routes of exceptional transport in Europe requires a long process of verifying the compatibility of the route with the size of the convoys and the issuing of the relative authorizations by the bodies in charge. Furthermore, such transports are inevitably exposed to risks such as construction sites, road closures or extraordinary atmospheric phenomena.
In the following two weeks, the press - about 7.5 m long, about 4.5 m wide and about 13 m high - was assembled with great precision by our operators using the Hydraulic Gantry Cranes, which exploit a hydraulic lifting system (consisting of two legs on which beams are fixed) that allows you to lift high loads and move them overcoming any obstacles.
The same Gantry Cranes was transported by 5 Marraffa vehicles and assembled with the utmost care thanks to the work of our operators. The assembly of the Gantry Cranes, in fact, requires a millimetric level of precision to carry out a correct positioning and alignment of the load.
It was a particularly complex job due to the limited work spaces, due to the quantity of components of the press and the final dimensions of the same, which required an accurate and thorough engineering work by our technical department.
