Handling and lifting three reactors
Exceptional transport and lifting from the Erchie power plant to three different destinations.
This is one of the latest tasks performed by Marraffa, involved in the complex operations of relocating some reactors from the Terna power plant in Erchie (BR) to three different destinations: one in Brianza, one in the province of Turin and the third in Rome.
The 69-tonne units were lifted by a 400-ton crane and loaded onto a 6-axle SPMT self-propelled vehicle before being transported to a logistics yard set up a few kilometres from the power plant for transfer to another convoy. In fact, with the help of a second 300-ton crane, the reactors were moved from the SPMT self-propelled vehicle to a new configuration consisting of modular semi-trailers and a truck for the subsequent departure with a further stop at the port of Brindisi for the next ship embarkation.
From there, two of these reactors reached the port of Ravenna and then continued by road to their final destination, in the province of Monza and the province of Turin. The third reactor, on the other hand, from Brindisi reached the port of Salerno and then continued by road to Rome.
